Richland Academy

Stop motion is an animated filmmaking technique in which objects are physically manipulated in small increments between individually photographed frames so that they will appear to exhibit independent motion when the series of frames is played back as a slow sequence.
SK students learned that in order to make their animation video look realistic they had to move their sculptures in small increments and then snap a picture, each time they moved them. It was a long process but the SK's did an amazing job collaborating with their groups by taking turns taking pictures, moving their sculptures, making sure all their sculptures were in frame and creating different settings out of the things they could find in their environment.

In collaboration with Ms. Ciocio and the Gr4/5 students our library discovery periods have focused on language as a tool to express ourselves. We wondered if we were good communicators and discovered that in order to exchange our thoughts and imaginings well, we needed to understand our audience.
