The intramural program at Richland Academy is built around team spirit, community, and competition. Students will compete on teams made up of classmates from grades 2-8 where they will participate in a variety of modified sports. The goal is to demonstrate good sportsmanship and for the older students to show leadership in an active environment.
Richland Academy is a participating member in the Small School Athletics Federation (SSAF). Made up of 65 schools, the SSAF provides an opportunity for Richland student athletes to compete against students from other schools. Popular sports at Richland have been Cross Country, Basketball, Badminton, and Track and Field.
Every member of Richland Academy belongs to one of four houses that are named after Canadian heroes. Fox, Wickenheiser, Webstad, and Suzuki Houses compete throughout the school year for the chance to collect house points. The house with the most points will be awarded with the Oliveira Cup which is named after the founders of Richland Academy. The houses compete not only in sporting events, team building activities, and physical challenges, but also in fundraising campaigns, food drives, and clothing drives that help benefit our local community. Our House Program is a great way to teach our students about being a member of something bigger than themselves and their school.
