Our Grade 4 class settles into the routines and expectations of Grade 4, we begin our IB journal through the lens of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Learner Profile:
INQUIRER
KNOWLEDGEABLE
THINKER
PRINCIPLED
OPEN-MINDED
CARING
RISK-TAKER
BALANCED
REFLECTIVE
What these attributes provide us with is a language and mindset for ways of thinking about ourselves and the people and world around us. These ten attributes describe an international-minded person; one that demonstrates understanding, respect and value for different cultures and perspectives. These attributes will drive much of our learning this school year. I truly believe that when we think about these core attributes we can build success for ourselves and others, both academically and socially. This is the reason we are spending time at the start of the year, unpacking their meanings and importance.
This year we are unpacking the Language of IB by creating freeze frames that describe the Learner Profile.
We think deeply about issues and ideas. We understand concepts and explore a variety of subjects. We remember what we learn.
We look after our minds and take care of our bodies. We try and stay healthy and happy.
We tell the truth and we are fair. We share and play well with others.
We are curious. We do research. We learn independently and with others. We are excited about learning.
We care about all living things. We help look after the environment.
We listen to other people and respect their ideas.
We have confidence to try new things. we stand up for the things we believe in.
We think about our own work. We know what are are good at and we work on areas that need more practice.
We invite you to share this post with your friends and families, and add a comment about how our IB Learner Profiles can help you be successful at school and in life.
