December arrived and with it the first snow and an emerging excitement as the holiday season is upon us. It began with Diwali, the festival of lights, moves on to Hannukah and then finally Christmas for some of our families. We have connected all these important times through how they are similar – light, joy, family and friends. As always, we have asked for the children’s input on how to decorate our room. Christmas trees, ornaments, and stars on the ceiling were top of their list! A favourite is the tree Mrs Vanegas brilliantly created. It is filling up fast with patterned ornaments (so we can tie in some of our recent patterning math explorations and the children’s love of sticks!)
Our first Christmas tree came in as a gift from one of the children to their teachers. We are always so touched by the generosity and kindness the children show us each and every day.
It inspired us to organise a tree decorating learning space for the children, and once completed, the trees really do look beautiful as the light flows through them at our windows.
