What’s your Line?

The students have been exploring various types and quality of lines.

We use lines to draw pictures, but we also use lines to write words, numbers and symbols. On maps, they also help us find the best route from one place to another.  Lines have qualities that suggest texture and movement, feelings and emotions.

Lines can be used to create patterns and designs on dresses to enhance their beauty.

In class, we have been using a variety of materials to explore patterns and lines in nature. Observational drawings help children understand and relate to the natural world around them.

Expressive lines can help show emotions and nurture the creative mind.

The Grade 5 class enjoyed exploring “charcoal” to create imaginative drawings. Stay tuned for more adventures in drawing.
