The Grade 5 students were given the task of creating their own identity masks. They were instructed to include details that represented themselves. The questions were thought-provoking and encouraged the students to examine themselves carefully, “How can we represent our identities using symbolism?” and “What does identity mean?”. In addition to the philosophical questions the students were considering, there were also technical challenges in developing their masks as they worked with the plaster effectively. The results of this dynamic process are currently on display and are as unique as the individuals who designed them.
