We Are the World

Congratulations to all of our students on their exceptional performances in Richland’s Holiday Concert. Under the guidance of Richland’s Performing Arts teacher, Ms Pitt, the students developed a concert that embraced and celebrated Unicef’s Convention of the Rights of the Child. Richland’s emergent curriculum meant that students were directly engaged in the process of song selection and the connections to Unicef’s articles of the Convention. Their dedication was obvious throughout the performance, which left the audience emotionally inspired.
Honouring and respecting children are part of Richland’s culture, and as a community we are excited to become the first school in York Region to be designated by Unicef Canada as a Rights Respecting School.
