The Big Night is Approaching – Richland’s Spring Musical!

Today’s blog posting comes to us from Ms. Amy Pitt, our Performing Arts teacher.

The big night is fast approaching. Next Wednesday, June 5th at 6:30pm, the debut performance of Richland Academy’s Spring Musical “Our School Song” will hit the stage for a sold out audience!

Here’s a sneak peak of the plot:

Richland Academy is looking for a school song. The Grade 6 class opens the show with a scene reflecting on their many happy years at school together. They realize Richland doesn’t have a school song. They are on a mission to find the perfect school song that represents what Richland is all about before they graduate. Each grade has their own scene which emerged through improvisation workshops and script writing in Performing Arts class. They perform for the Grade 6 students as a suggestion for the perfect school song as the Grade 6 class splits up to visit different classes throughout the school day. Songs selections include; ABC by the Jackson Five, Seasons of Love from RENT, Stompa by Serena Ryder, Firework by Katy Perry, and many more!

Bonus* look out for some of Richland Academy’s teachers on stage!

“Our School Song” will conclude with a debut performance of Richland Academy’s new school song of the same name, which I have co-written with the graduating Grade 6 students in Performing Arts class as a collaborative piece through songwriting workshops together. We are busy in the final crunch of rehearsals and can’t wait to share our original production with the Richland community! – Ms. Amy Pitt

Here is a sneak peak of the Grade 5 students rehearsing their song “Stompa” by Serena Ryder…
