“Only 1% of water on earth is drinkable” ~ I.L.

Our IB PYP unit on ‘How the World Works’ has been filled with new discoveries and global perspectives. As you know we have been taking a critical look at energy use in our immediate local area and around the world. Our Grade One and Two students have compiled statistics and facts about energy conservation and what we can do to help our earth.

We asked our Grade One and Two students to consolidate their knowledge about energy to make posters for our school community and raise awareness. We began by looking around our school at posters and documentation to understand how image and word work came together to convey a message. We then looked critically at posters and introduced Media Literacy vocabulary including: audience, purpose and point of view.
