Last week, the Early Years students continued to explore the magic of light and shadow in different ways. We also had the opportunity to make connections to shadows through puppet shows! Mike from Applefun Puppetry put on a wonderful shadow puppet show for the children. Our children showcased amazing audience behavior by following the rules and being engaged participants. We knew the shows were a success as we could see their smiles and the twinkle in their eyes, and we heard their rapturous laughter.
On Tuesday, Mike incorporated stories and songs that the children were familiar with such as ‘The three little pigs’, ‘The tortoise and the hare’, ‘Old MacDonald’, and ‘Baby shark’.
Some of the children were able to recall familiar words from the story and sing along to the songs they knew! It was a wonderful showcase of their growing literacy skills.
On Thursday, Mike introduced the children to three different stories, ‘Goldilizard and the 3 Mayors,’ ‘Chicken little’ & ‘3 Billy Goats Gruff’. It was a wonderful experience for the children!
