What began as a simple idea of building a castle from a box in our SK classroom, evolved into an in-depth journey of experiential and hands-on learning.
After months of drawing, planning and discussing how they could create a castle for the classroom, our SK students constructed their very own castle structure, complete with a drawbridge and flag. Throughout the process they learned to question ideas and problem-solve as a group, using ‘real tools,’ such as a measuring tape, a screwdriver, a hammer and carpenter’s glue.
As part of their castle-building project, the SK’s also worked collaboratively with our Grade 4 students to create a castle story.
