Why Play Math Games?

Games are an essential tool for learning in the elementary school setting.   A few benefits of math games in the classroom include:

  • Encourage strategic mathematical thinking
  • Development of computational fluency
  • Present opportunities for practice
  • Support a school-to-home connection

Earlier this week, Grade 5/6 played a game called Blocko to familiarize ourselves with concepts in Data Management and Probability.  During this opportunity, students learned about the difference between theoretical and experimental probability.
