For many of us it is the time of year when we celebrate with our family and friends. We also take time to remember those who are not as fortunate as ourselves, and to give what we can to others. The children in the Grade One class have been telling their classmates how they celebrate at home throughout the year. Today, one of our parents came in to speak to the students about Eid, explaining why Muslims choose to fast prior to the celebration, and how important it is for all of us to remember that not everyone has food to eat. After our discussion the children coloured pictures of the new moon and had henna placed on their hands. Some children chose a moon and star, others decided to have their initials placed in their palms. One of our students selected the letters “R” and ‘A’, he decided to celebrate with a little school spirit!
