Richland’s Grade 2 students were delighted to welcome Mr. Ron Robb, a retired engineer, inventor and origami lover. He visited their classroom and shared everything he knew about China, Japan and origami. The students were fascinated and amazed at the items Mr. Robb was able to create with origami folding, including a Merry-Go-Round and a rocket ship that he was able to launch.
The children were extremely interested and engaged in seeing what Mr. Robb could do with origami paper and were thrilled to make items such as a house, a piano, and a small change purse. According to Mr. Robb, “You can make anything, any theme, with origami paper.” It was a wonderful introduction to the Japanese culture and enhanced their current investigation of China.
