Appreciating the Beauty in Nature

Here at Richland Academy we are so fortunate to be surrounded by nature. The trees in our playground are big and mature and provide us with so many uses. We use the trees for shade. We watch the animals climb the trees and look for food. We sit and observe the leaves. We draw the trees we see from the classroom windows.

We decided this week that we wanted to take our learning outside. We put our indoor learning on pause and went and enjoyed the fresh fall air. The children were each given a bag and asked to collect some beautiful leaves. The students know the rules and did not pick leaves off the tree as it is a living thing. They picked up the beautiful ones off the ground.

Once back inside, the goal was to examine all of the leaves and pick the most special ones to add to a beautiful fall wreath that each child would be creating. The students worked so hard on this task. The class was silent with how hard they were working!

The wreaths were all unique and gorgeous! Each one was different and special because all of the pieces were hand picked by the students which made them so proud! Please show your child you love their work by finding a special place in your home to showcase it! These little actions mean more to the children than you will ever know!
