Grade 5/6 launched an inquiry into oceans. Working in groups based on individual interests, students researched and presented their findings on the world’s major oceans in a “Prezi” presentation. Prezi is an online, cloud-based presentation software and storytelling tool for exploring and sharing ideas. Students needed not only to research and collaborate, but also learn how to use a new presentation program collaboratively. After conducting their own research and drafting a first rendering of their presentations, students added information after visiting the Ontario Science Center and subjecting their presentations to the critique of their peers. After going back to the drawing board, editing and re editing their work, students presented their research in formal presentations to the class. This is only one example of the fantastic work in technology and research they achieved!
