It’s an annual tradition at Richland to welcome our grandparents for a special assembly – just for them. This year’s assembly was held on Friday, October 12th and was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Under the musical direction of Performing Arts Teacher, Ms. Amy Pitt, Richland’s students performed popular songs from the 50s, 60s and 70s. The audience sang and clapped along to such familiar tunes as ‘Lollipop’, James Brown’s ‘I Feel Good’, and the chicken dance. The students put their hearts and souls into the performance, which included an emotional closing to the show with a beautiful rendition of Fleetwood Mac’s, ‘Landslide’, by the Grade Six students. The love and respect Richland students have for their grandparents was on full display as they welcomed them into their classrooms for shared activities following the assembly.

It is a day that many of Richland’s grandparents travel great distances to attend – and it is always worth the trip. Happy Grandparents’ Day!
