Our Land Acknowledgement shows recognition of and respect for Indigenous peoples from the past and the present. We acknowledge that the property of Richland Academy is situated upon traditional territories of the Anishinabek, the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Mississaugas of the Credit, Mississauga and the Wendat peoples.
Recognizing this land is an expression of gratitude and appreciation to those whose territory you reside on, and a way of honouring the Indigenous people who have been living and working on the land from time immemorial.
In 2009, Mr. Demers graduated from Brock University with a Bachelor of Physical Education Honours degree and a Bachelor of Education degree. He flew to Hong Kong where he lived and taught at Delia School of Canada from 2009-2017. While in Hong Kong, Mr. Demers taught Health, Physical Education, and Geography for JK- Grade 8 students.He also coached a variety of sports teams including boys soccer, basketball, and cross country. In 2017 he flew back to Canada and started working at Richland Academy as the Health and Physical Education teacher and the Athletic Director. Mr. Demers enjoys teaching in the IB PYP program because he gets a chance to show how Health and P.E. connect with other subjects and he enjoys seeing the students make amazing connections through their learning.
