As an important pillar in our school commitment to redefining education for a changing world, we have revamped our literacy program across all grades and created a Balanced Literacy Program to reflect best practices and to enrich the learning experiences of our students. Our thanks to Dr. Beate Planche for her ongoing support with this process. We will soon initiate an audit of our mathematics program across all grades, and seek opportunities for enriching the program.
As a Richland Parent, we invite you to attend Parent Ambassador meetings. The meetings have 2 formats: monthly evening meeting to identify strategic direction and set priorities; and Friday morning meetings (also held monthly) to plan and execute Parent Ambassador initiatives. For more information, please contact Laura Murgatroyd.
The health and wellness of our community is of vital importance to us because we know that in order to best learn, students must be able to concentrate. Our students recently enjoyed yoga sessions in the piazza; providing opportunity to stretch their bodies and focus our minds. Namaste.
We are so proud of our very own A.K., who sold her handmade bracelets at Triple Flip in the Upper Canada Mall this past weekend and has nearly reached her initial goal of raising $1000!
She connected with customers about her amazing cause, Bead4Better, changing lives one bead at a time. If you would like to support Sick Kids Hospital, as well as this incredible entrepreneur, stop by Richland’s Piazza after school on Mondays. A. will also be returning to Triple Flip at the Upper Canada Mall soon.
Wishing our friends and families celebrating happiness, peace and prosperity, and all the joys of Passover.
Richland Academy looks forward to celebrating Earth Month with several initiatives planned by our Eco-friends.
Events include No Tech Day, school-wide Earth Day celebration, as well as a collaborative outdoor art installation.
The end of our cold weather uniform is Friday, April 29th. We welcome the warmer weather with our change in uniform beginning Monday, May 2nd.
Richland will be participating in Music Monday on May 2nd! This National initiative showcases learning and making music in Canadian schools and communities during a normal school day. Like a wave of music across Canada, from 9am Newfoundland Time to 3pm Pacific Time, we will celebrate music from the opening to closing of schools across our nation. More details coming soon.
Richland students participate annually in the Forest of Reading Festival, an opportunity to meet favourite authors and illustrators; it’s like a “rock concert” for reading! It’s a wonderful experience to be part of the largest literary event for young readers in Canada.
