Planting in PK

Our PK students have been actively engaged in observing the changing seasons, and recently theorized about where flowers come from: “Flowers come from leaves” and “Flowers live in a garden.” Following their class discussion, they read “The Tiny Seed” by Eric Carle and “And Then It’s Spring” by Julie Fogliano, and the children discovered that flowers grow from seeds.

Together with Head of School, Mrs. Oliveira, the children placed kidney beans and lima beans on moistened paper towel, as “They need water to grow,” and then placed them in plastic bags on the window ledge, because “They need sun, too.”

The children are now eagerly waiting to see what happens to their beans!
